Summer Photo Call
Here is an idea we'd like to present to our photographers and we hope some of you will consider this conceptual approach when your looking for subject matter this summer.
If you happen to pick up the May issue of Field and Stream there is an an article on page 68 that talks about "The 25 Greatest Flies of All Time". What I liked about their concept was how they creatively presented just a few of the best known flies. The idea was very unique, and it made the subject matter more interesting. (They simply mounted certain flies using a pin, just like insect specimens, and placed them inside a vintage wooden frame). This is the kind of imagery that we'd like to present to potential buyers in the future. We know that most outdoor publications will recycle their content at some point throughout the year. One month they might talk about survival tips, the next month it's first aid, knot tying or navigation skills, etc. The key is providing this specific imagery ahead of time so the publsihers can tap into a stock database of conceptual photos that are ready to go. It takes a bit of planning but we think this as a wonderful opportunity that usually slips through the cracks.
For a sample of what we're referring to follow this link to the article on the Field & Stream website. Grab a copy of the May issue for the full effect.
For additional ideas on what to shoot this summer, please download a copy of our summer photo call.
