Why should I sign up with Wild West Photos?
Having your own account will allow you to share thumbnail images with clients or friends, it will speed up the checkout process and best of all it's FREE. Click here to register with Wild West Photos.

How do I find images on the Wild West Photos website?
There are a number of ways to find and view photos:

Simply type a keyword into the 'search' field located on the left side of each page, and click the 'Find It' button. |
|
|
|

|
Narrow your search by viewing a list of predetermined categories located on the 'Image Categories' page. |
|
|
|
| c) |
|
Try our 'advanced search' page and select photos based a variety of parameters including; keywords, licensing, orientation, ratings, etc. Click the following link to view the search options available on our 'Advanced Search' page.

How do I purchase and download a photo(s)?
Simply add a photo or photos to your shopping cart and click the 'Check Out' button. If you do not have an account with Wild West Photos you will be required to provide us with your billing and credit card information. Wild West Photos will only accept payment via credit card (Visa, MasterCard or AMEX), through our secure online server. All photos will be provided in digital format via the web.

How can I become a contributing artist on Wild West Photos?
Please note: We are not accepting new photographers at this time.
If you would like to submit your work for inclusion on the Wild West Photos website, please review the materials located on our 'Prospective Artists' page. Here you'll find information pertaining to; pricing, contracts, our W9 form, along with the general submission guidelines. Please send samples of your work on CD/DVD via regular mail, or by submitting a link to an online portfolio. You can mail potential submissions to the address listed below. Please understand that we cannot return image CD's or prints submitted as samples. Please call us if you have questions regarding what type of photos to submit.

What is a digital watermark?
A digital watermark prevents the illegal use of an image and protects the photographers artwork from copyright infringement. Watermarks are placed over the top of our 'comp view' images only. Watermarked images can be downloaded and used for comping purposed only. Once an image is purchased the watermark is removed. All photos on this site are protected by copyright law and may not be downloaded for personal or private use without a purchase agreement.

Are the thumbnail versions FREE.
Unfortunately none of the images on the site are free! Thumbnails allow you to preview images on our web site. They are still protected by copyright law and may not be used for any other purpose.

How do I calculate the final size of an image?
Wild West Photos does this for you automatically. Every photo contains a detailed list of specifications which can be viewed before the image is purchased. Use this information to determine if the image you have selected is the appropriate size for your specific needs. Please keep in mind that image sizes vary slightly from one photo to the next. Print and web only versions are clearly marked. BEFORE YOU PURCHASE make sure you have carefully chosen the correct size.

What does 'web only' mean?
Web only images are saved at a resolution of 72 dpi and they are intended for use on the web. You should not attempt to use WEB ONLY images in printed materials.

I'm having trouble downloading my photo! What now?

Try changing the extension to .jpg and open the file. |
|
|

|
Some AOL members may have difficulties downloading images with the AOL browser. We recommend using Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome or Macintosh Safari. |

|
You may attempt to download your image within a 24 hour period without additional billing. |
|
|
|
| e) |
|
If you are still having trouble downloading a file, please fill out an online support ticket and we will answer your question within 24 hours. Please do not re-purchase the image. |

If your image download fails for any reason, please do not re-purchase that image. Contact us immediately and we will provide you with any image(s) via email. |

Save the files directly to your desktop for easy reference.

What is a 'rights-managed' photo?
Rights-managed photos are high-quality images that carry a licensing fee based on your specific use. The fee is calculated using several usage characteristics; print run, size, placement, duration of use and geographic distribution. When you order a rights-managed photograph you will be asked to submit information that will determine your specific licensing fee. Rights-managed images are identified by the following symbol located near the file name. Rights-managed images are often used to protect a companies product or brand because it guarantees the user exclusive rights to that photograph.

An excerpt from the U.S. Copyright website...
"Uploading or downloading works protected by copyright without the authority of the copyright owner is an infringement of the copyright owner's exclusive rights of reproduction and/or distribution. Anyone found to have infringed a copyrighted work may be liable for statutory damages up to $30,000 for each work infringed and, if willful infringement is proven by the copyright owner, that amount may be increased up to $150,000 for each work infringed. In addition, an infringer of a work may also be liable for the attorney's fees incurred by the copyright owner to enforce his or her rights."

What does 'Free Range'/ 'Royalty-Free' mean?
Free range/royalty-free pricing simply means you do not have to pay additional fees for ongoing uses. Once you have purchased a free range/royalty-free image, you may use it multiple times for any number of projects without paying additional fees. Free range images offer an economical alternative to rights-managed imagery. (Pornographic, defamatory, libelous or otherwise unlawful use of any image is prohibited.) Free range products are identified by a '(Free Range)' notation below the file name.

for free our range/royalty-free images:
Web/Mobile (approx. 150 x 150 pixels at 72 dpi = $10.00)
Web Small (approx. 300 x 200 pixels at 72 dpi = $25.00)
Web Medium (approx. 500 x 340 pixels at 72 dpi = $55.00)
Web Large (approx. 700 x 480 pixels at 72 dpi = $85.00)
Web XLarge (approx. 900 x 600 pixels at 72 dpi = $125.00)
Hi Res - Print (approx. 5" x 7" to 9" x 12" at 300 dpi = $155.00)

How does the 'Rights-Managed' pricing calculator work?
The rights-managed calculator is a simple online tool that will allow you to determine the pricing for all of our rights-managed images based on your specific usage. If a rights-managed photos is selected for purchase, you will be asked to provide information regarding the photographs intended distribution. The fee is calculated using several factors including; print run, size, placement, duration of use and geographic distribution.
Pricing for rights-managed photos can be calculated by entering the following criteria into the pricing calculator fields:

How can I be removed from your email list?
When you register with Wild West Photos, you have the option of informing us that you do not wish to receive email from us. If you would like to be removed please follow any of the instructions below:
